Three Programmes, Born From Our Own Loss — Kiran Foundation's dialysis, Gau Seva and elderly care missions

We know these illnesses from the inside. We watched what they cost, not only in medicine but in dignity, in savings, in hope. These three programmes exist so that other families do not have to face them alone.

Kidney Care & Dialysis Support

Dialysis is not a treatment you finish.

Our brother was diabetic from birth, and in time his kidneys gave way. What followed was two sessions a week, for years, alongside medicines, blood tests and the journey to the centre and back. It never became less expensive and it never stopped being necessary.

Families in that position sell land, then jewellery, then whatever is left. When the money runs out, sessions get skipped. Skipped sessions are not a delay in treatment. They are a decline in health that is often not recoverable.

Gau Seva

Our father's life's work, carried on in his name.

Our father was a veterinary doctor. He spent his working life keeping other people's animals alive, and cattle were most of that work. He treated them for families who could not have afforded to lose an animal, and often could not afford to pay him either. He treated them anyway.

A cow that is abandoned when she stops giving milk, or injured on a road and left there, has nobody at all. Neither does the family whose only cow falls ill in a month when there is no money for a vet. Both are the same problem, and both were his.

What we fund: rescue, medical care, feeding (chaara daan) and shelter for stray, injured and abandoned cows, and free veterinary care for cattle belonging to families who cannot meet the cost.

Dignity for Women and Elderly Parents

The work our mother was already doing, without calling it that.

Our mother spent her life among people, and it was women who came to her when they had nowhere else to turn. She listened, and then she helped. This programme is simply that, organised.

Old age carries the same loneliness in a different form: parents left without income, without medicines, and without anyone to take them to a doctor. The need is rarely dramatic. It is a prescription nobody collected and a check-up nobody arranged, month after month, until something breaks.

How Support Reaches a Family

From Your Gift to a Treatment Room

We would rather show you the route than ask you to trust it.

  1. A family reaches us

    Usually through a hospital, a dialysis centre, or somebody in the community who already knows them. We visit, and we look at what is actually needed rather than what was asked for.

  2. We pay the provider

    Sessions, medicines and tests are settled directly with the dialysis centre, the hospital or the chemist. No cash changes hands, and there is never a question about where the money went.

  3. We stay on it

    These are recurring costs, so a one-time payment solves very little. We commit for a period and we keep visiting, because the month we stop is the month treatment stops.
