Where Your Kindness Goes — Kiran Foundation's education, healthcare, food, emergency and winter relief causes

Illness is never the only burden a family carries. Alongside our three core missions, these five programmes support the everyday needs that keep a household standing while it copes.

Education for Poor and Needy

A classroom seat can change the direction of an entire family.

We remove the barriers that keep children out of school: fees, books, uniforms and distance. Our learning centres provide daily classes, school supplies, digital resources and mentors who stay with a child through every grade.

The children who drop out rarely do so because of a single large expense. They drop out because of a run of small ones nobody could cover that term. Those are the costs we take on.

  • ₹900Books and a uniform for one school year
  • ₹2,500A term of fees and supplies for one child
  • MentorsWho stay with a child through every grade

Healthcare & Medical Support

No family should have to choose between medicine and a meal.

Free health camps, essential medicines, maternal care and treatment assistance bring quality healthcare to villages and settlements that have none. We also run awareness drives on hygiene, nutrition and preventive care.

This is the work that sits underneath our dialysis and heart programmes. Most of the conditions we end up funding treatment for could have been caught at a camp years earlier.

  • ₹350One person seen and treated at a camp
  • ₹12,000A full day's health camp in one village
  • DirectMedicines bought from the chemist, not given as cash

Food for Poor and Needy

Hunger is the one problem that cannot wait until tomorrow.

Daily meal drives, monthly ration kits and nutrition support for mothers and young children make sure no one in our communities sleeps hungry, and that growing children get the nourishment their futures depend on.

When a household is paying for a long illness, food is the first thing that quietly shrinks, because it is the only cost that can be cut without an argument. A ration kit takes that pressure off.

  • ₹60One hot meal, served
  • ₹1,200A month's ration kit for a family
  • MonthlyDelivered on a schedule, not one-off

Emergency Relief

In the hardest hours, no family should stand alone.

When floods, fires, illness or sudden loss strike, our response teams reach families with food, shelter material, medicines and rebuilding support, and we stay long after the headlines have moved on.

The first week of a disaster attracts help. The sixth month, when a family is still rebuilding and the cameras are elsewhere, does not. That is where we try to be useful.

  • 72 hrsOur target for reaching an affected family
  • ₹3,500An emergency kit: food, shelter, medicines
  • AfterWe stay through the rebuilding months

Winter Relief

In north India, a cold night can be as dangerous as any illness.

Every winter we hand out blankets, quilts, woollens and firewood to families sleeping without shelter and to elderly people living alone. Cold waves take lives quietly, and the people most at risk are always the ones with the least.

Our elderly-care visits and our winter distribution are the same list of people. If you are old, alone and without income in December, the cold is not a discomfort. It is the thing most likely to kill you.

  • ₹700A quilt and woollens for one person
  • Dec–FebWhen the need is at its sharpest
  • ElderlyPrioritised, especially those living alone

Not sure where to give?

Leave it to us. We put undirected support wherever the need is sharpest that month, which is usually a treatment somebody is about to stop.
